Beautylish LA 2011 Spring Trend Preview

Time flies. It was only five months ago when I attended my first Beautylish event back in October. This past Tuesday, Beautylish hosted another event at the W Hotel in Westwood to welcome their new Beauty Director, Ning Chao, and to preview this year's Spring Trends.

And, as per usual, great company and conversations over cocktails, cupcakes, and cosmetics. Loves.

1. My favorites. We're back where we started.

Lookbook: Outfit of the Night for Beautylish LA Event

Long sleeve top, Zara
Bandage skirt, Charlotte Russe
Belt, Aldo
Tights, Forever 21
Shoes, Charlotte Russe
Necklace, Forever 21
Coat, H&M

I'm really surprised on the quality of this point and shoot camera. All of the pictures taken that night came out really nice it was only set in auto.

I wish I can link ya'll to something on where I got the pieces that I'm wearing, but I just shopped my closet for this event. A recycled outfit that actually worked out. My outfit was actually inspired by Lauren Conrad while I was skimming through the pages of her style book. I didn't think I was going to be able to pull it off, but I think this is one of my favorite outfits.

It was chilly last night, so I had to wear tights and a thick coat to keep myself warm. Even though there were heat lamps outside, I still get cold pretty easily.

I'm not sure if you can also tell from the pictures, but my hair is a tad lighter. I originally wanted ombre highlights, but you can clearly tell that whatever I have on my hair are not ombre highlights. My stylist just lightened my hair and gave me highlights without touching my roots. Its getting some time getting used to it, but I'm still a little iffy about it. I'm contemplating whether or not I should get some blonde chunks on the ends of my hair. The only thing is by doing so, my hair will not exactly corporate appropriate. And for those who are wondering if I end up getting a digital perm, I chickened out. I just curled my hair for the night. I couldn't risk my hair becoming too dry and damaged.

I will be posting up my photo blog for the Beautylish LA Spring 2011 Trend Preview on a separate post. I had too much fun. Cosmetics, cocktails, cupcakes, and company. Couldn't be any better night!

Home Decor: Peek into my Living Room

Last year, I've finally left the nest and moved out on my own. Even though for the majority part of being on your own can be stressful, it's also liberating to have a place you can claim your own. And today, I'm finally getting around to sharing my decor for my living room. It's still a work in progress and will always be, but I'm happy with the current stage it's in right now as it feels more home-y to me.

Since I have been sick this past week (and it seems like it's still going strong...), I've been cooped up at home which means I had more time to catch up with my favorite home decor blogs. This then have pretty much inspired me to fix things up around the house. Also, after seeing fellow blogger and home decor buddy, elleandish's, cute living room, I realized that mine was looking a little drab.

Then...

This was my living room when I had first moved in, everything was redeveloped by the developers which makes my life ten times easier since I won't have to deal with any repairs except for cosmetic changes.

The Makeup Show LA Recap (Part 1): Pro-Class: Kit Essentials by Orlando Santiago for Glamcor

My friend and photographer, Veronica, covered The Makeup Show LA on behalf of yummiebitez. She checked out a few classes and took great notes and pictures to be shared here. Read up on her experience...

This past Saturday, I was able to attend The Makeup Show LA at the California Market Center in Downtown LA. The experience was overwhelming, yet exciting since this was my first makeup event coverage, and it was definitely amazing to be surrounded by so many wonderful and talented makeup artists.

The event was very well executed, and it was a good opportunity for professional make-up artists to network with one another; to buy make-up supplies for their kit; to meet and learn from celebrity makeup artists who have made a significant mark in the makeup artistry; and to get a peek at the new products to be launched by different makeup companies. Throughout the day, different workshops were held for aspiring make-up artists to gain new knowledge in their field.

One of the classes that I attended was Kit Essentials by Orlando Santiago for Glamcor. Orlando basically taught  the basic things that a makeup artist should have in their kit. He had three big bags of make-up supplies on the stage, luckily he didn’t share ALL of them with us as it would take hours. But here's a list of some of the items Orlando thought a makeup artist should have on their kits (links have been provided where you can shop for the recommended items):

Lookbook: Rainy Days

Black tank, H&M
Green leopard print cardigan, H&M
Brown faux leather motorcycle jacket, H&M
Dark denim wash jeans, Charlotte Russe
Black motorcycle buckled boots, Forever 21
Skinny off-white scarf, Forever 21 (gifted)
Clustered flower ring, Forever 21

It finally stopped raining here in SoCal, but this was my outfit when the ugly weather was around. Although it was tempting to go out in sweats during rainy days, I decided to put a little effort on how I look despite how bad the weather is. I don't think this outfit can be anymore casual than it already is.

In case you were wondering where this picture was taken, this was during my visit at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Arts). I never knew how big and amazing this museum is. Building after building of different types of art from different eras and places of the Earth. And to think I've been living in the LA area for quite some time now. I'm definitely coming back here again... maybe on a sunnier day.
