Last week, my lovely friend, Heart, asked me to accompany her at the Teen Choice Awards. I've never been to an award show, ever, so I said... "ummm yessss" with a bunch of emojis. And this was what I wore to the event.
Grey V-Neck tee | Madewell
Denim cut-offs | Joe's Jeans
Striped blazer | Line & Dot (similar here)
Bag | Chanel "Boy Bag"
Ok, I know I'm way past the teeny bopper stage, but I can't lie... I was pretty excited to see One Direction at the Teen Choice Awards. They opened for the show with confetti and all and sang "Best Song Ever." Another highlight of the award show was seeing the Pitch Perfect cast (which is one of my favorite movie), but I wish Anna Kendrick was there.
But what really touched me and almost brought me to tears was Lea Michele's speech when she accepted her award and dedicated it to her late boyfriend, Cory Montieth. Glee will really not be the same without Finn Hudson. But, I wish her the best through this hard time.

So, I totally got this blazer after I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Courtney, wearing it. I have been looking for a black and white striped blazer a la Beetlejuice, and she just made the find a little easier. But if you haven't been to her blog, you've been missing out in life. She kinda reminds me of one of the Olsen twins? Anyway, you should go and love her blog already if you haven't.
Another thing I've been looking for awhile now were mid-length boots with chunky heels. It's been on my sartorial list since last fall, but I never really found a pair that I liked until now. I have many wants, but I try to purchase items that are pretty basic and can easily be mixed and match with other pieces in my wardrobe. Thankfully, Zara delivered and checked off those boots on my list. These almost look like the Phillip Lim "Peggy" boots that was in his Fall/Winter 2012 collection. Anyway, I might have worn these boots too soon being it's still summer, but I'm just that excited for Fall already!
And, I really wouldn't mind having these Acne boots on my feet even though they're pretty much similar to my new boots. I mean the heels are on a tad bit shorter side, sooo it would totally be ok if I have them too, right?
I think it's fine to have items that are similar, but slightly different in shape, texture, etc. as long as you know you will make use out of it and will adore having them in your collection, lol. But of course we still need to find the balance between enjoying our purchases and saving up for....retirement, I don't know. lol
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit. It's so simple and neutral, yet edgy. I also enjoyed your 'boy' story. Could you make a post of what you can fit inside it?

The boy has been really getting most of love in the bag department lately. I had to retire it this weekend to give it a little bit of vacation.
DeleteAnd, yes, I totally agree. It's so easy to splurge and sometimes it take a lot of will power for some people to save. It's really all about balance. It's easy to get caught up with the wants vs. the needs.
I'm glad you enjoyed that post. And yes, I'll be doing a post on on what's in my boy bag :).
You look so beautiful in these shorts and boots!
